Healthy Eating, Gym Regime & Better Choices | Lifestyle

Healthy Eating & Lifestyle Update :

It has officially been 4 months since I set my New Year's Resolutions, so I feel like now is the right time to let you know just how I'm getting on. This is a good chance for you all to reflect on your resolutions/aims for the year also. I hope you're still sticking to them and not just the 31 days!

I took the plunge and joined the gym at the beginning of January, as I knew that telling myself I wanted to 'diet' and loose weight would be challenging. I don't really like the word diet, it makes it seem impossible to reach your end goal, when really nothing's impossible, you just have really want it and I hand on heart promise you'll get there.

I have now decided to take a new outlook and think of it as 'making healthier choices' and really learning about what I'm putting into my body and ensuring I fuel myself with fresh products and  nourished food that'll help improve the brain, organ function and body and make you healthier overall. These simple changes, even by just simply drinking more water and challenging yourself to try and drink roughly 3 litres a day, will have a huge impact on your health and mind.

I honestly feel so much more healthier since I have started working out and eating clean. This is definitely NOT a diet, this is a lifestyle choice and I'm thoroughly enjoying it!

My tip's for successfully reaching your weight goals:
  1. Prep is key: Wake up that extra 30 minutes earlier, or set aside some time in the evenings to prep your meals throughout the day and snacks. Why? Because if we don't prep by simply packing a banana in our bags or carrots and humus we will choose the 'quick & easy' option, and pop out to the shop and pick up a processed product, or something high in calories, sugars and fats which won't make us feel good and more than likely make us feel quite tired. You can still have treats little and often, it's all about moderation.
  2. Learn about what you put into your body: Look up and do research on what you are putting into your body, try and use fresh products and make sure you take the correct calorie intake. Speak to your friends and family members and ask for recipe ideas - grandparents will be good at giving you advice!
  3. Exercise: There is so much to do, that no matter whether you're a beginner (home workouts - youtube videos), intermediate (outside workouts/gym) or advanced (gym, swimming and working out very regularly) you can find something that works for you. I'll be honest, when I first started aiming to loose weight and tone, I was petrified about going into the gym, and not knowing how to use the equipment as I different have a personal trainer or anything. But I was so wrong, I had a whole induction with a gym instructor who took me round, showed me the machines, and the benefits of each one. I was given advice and told I could use their instructors to help me whilst I was there, and I left feeling really confident, yes there are very fit, toned girls and boys in the gym which look ultra-professional but there are also those who have gone there to make themselves feel better and healthier, and they are who inspire me to just go for it! Who cares what anyone thinks? You are all there for the same reason!
  4. Know your reasons why: This is an interesting one, don't join the gym or loose weight for anyone but yourself, I feel that if you do it for any other reason you'll struggle and may not stick at it. You are the reason WHY.
  5. Drink plenty of water: It's really important to remain hydrated at all times, water is so good for you and has lot's of benefits for your body and skin.

I have been drinking more water than ever, really flushing out my system and keeping myself hydrated! I have also been drinking 2-3 cups of green tea each day to detox my body. Funny enough, I love green tea now - the Twinnings pure green tea is my favourite. I have also started adding juice plus products into my diet, the fruit and vegetable capsules are helping by fuelling my body with goodness and have helped with hair and nail growth - which I have seen instant results from. I also have been making shakes. I love making green and fruit smoothies for breakfast and lunch and having healthy snacks throughout the day - such as nuts, fruit, carrots and humus. There is so many good products out there you just need to find out what works for you and what you enjoy! I've also in my first week of using these products, eating clean and going to the gym I have lost a total of 6lb.

Whilst at the gym I do mostly cardio for 30-40 minutes, followed with light weight exercises and lots of reps. I also do squats and lunges at home as they are easy to do (and free!) Have a look on youtube at different workout videos and tips and tricks as that's where I've learnt most of mine from.
