For today's post I wanted to do a drugstore make-up tutorial so I could find out the new-in and best products on the market and featuring more affordable products into my posts as I know that I am a lover of brands which are quite pricey, but that's not to say that drugstore brands aren't killing the scene at the moment.
I started by applying my NYX primer all over my face and a thin layer over my eyes to help my make-up stay in place. This product has good lasting power, and applies evenly to the skin.
Next, I went onto my brows and eyes-shadow as I find it makes make-up application so much easier, you don't have to worry about any fall out product from your eyes-shadow. Firstly for my brows I used a new product, which I'm loving by the way - and it's from a brand I have not tried too much from yet, the balm cosmetics which is called brow pow! This product is in the shade blonde with the powder, angled brush by Real Techniques applies this well with light brush strokes to fill any stray hairs.
I used the Sleek eye shadow palette in A New Day to create the below eye look which I absolutely love - very glam! The palette has a mixture of beautiful shades, I applied the shade carpe diem (second row fourth colour near the right) to the outer corner mixed with the dark brown shade h-a-p-p-y (second row bottom right), I used the light sparkly champagne shade called believer (second row next second to last shade) and got this finished look, the light sparkly colours opens the eye, and the darker shades adds more definition to the eye. I used a new mascara that I picked up today from Maybelline called falsies, push up angel mascara, this has a bendy wand which is perfect for getting those outer corner lashes to add length and volume, to give my lashes and eye-look even more glam I added the sultry lashes by Primark's beauty range. For only £1 is definitely worth trying out if you haven't already! Let me know your opinions if you do.
After I had applied and finished my eye make-up I then applied a NEW product from April's birch box (super exclusive as I have not posted my BirchBox review yet!) NIP-FAB which is a green colour corrector to apply to any redness before applying make-up I applied it under my eyes and near the tops of my checks - and yes it does work! (but full reviews will be out soon) Then I moved on to trying the Maybelline Fit Me foundation, I have heard really good reviews and this was actually recommended by some of my viewers to try - and seeing as I recommend you products, I should listen to yours too! This foundation got me at the price, £5.99 - hello, bargain! This foundation has a good coverage and a dewy-finish, I applied about 2-3 pumps of the foundation, to blend I started by using the Primark version of a beauty blender and then finished with the Nanshy buffer brush for an airbrushed finish.
I then proceeded to contour, using another newly purchased drugstore find, which is again by Sleek make-up and is their highlight and contour duo in the shade light. This contour kit I have to say is one of the best I've tried, both which are powder products, the contour colour is a warm tone, that does not look 'orange, cakey or muddy' they are the three things I find are the easiest and biggest mistake when selecting a bronzer/contour shade especially with a drug store brand when it's difficult to find the right shade for you, so always test out the samples they have on display to help with your judgement! However this one defiantly gets my vote! The highlight colour applied effortlessly to my cupids bow, down the centre of my nose and tops of my cheekbones with the Avon fan brush (another brand I've recently fell back in love with) to add a nice glow to my finished look. This is definitely a firm favourite of mine after creating this tutorial for you all. Have you tried out any Sleek products before?
The finished look:
FULL GLAM & RED LIP
Lip crayon - Velvet Matte by Primark in the shade Red
Lip crayon - Velvet Matte by Primark in the shade Red
The alternative finished look:
FULL GLAM & NUDE LIP
FULL GLAM & NUDE LIP
Lip liner by Rimmel in the shade Nude-beige.
So, we are now another tutorial down - and that was so much fun to create! I love this look, quite different to what I usually go for, however I have enjoyed every second from shopping this morning for the missing bits in my collection to create this look, to the application and taking photographs of each stage. I hope you all enjoyed this post featuring some different brands that I have not before. Please let me know any make-up recommendations you have that you love, and think that I need to know about. Thank you for your support & time reading. Love Em oxo
